🔥 FireSmart Friday: A Cleaner Yard is a Safer Yard 🔥

Did you know that regular yard maintenance is one of the easiest ways to reduce wildfire risk?
This weekend, make your yard FireSmart by:

âś” Removing dead leaves and pine needles
âś” Cleaning gutters and rooflines
âś” Clearing dry vegetation
✔Keeping grass mowed and healthy
âś” Removing woody debris around your property

A FireSmart property is lean, clean, and green. Taking a few minutes now can help reduce potential fuel for wildfire before conditions worsen later.

Today, on World MS Day, the North Vancouver City Fire Department stands in solidarity with people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with an estimated 90,000 Canadians living with the disease and an average of 12 Canadians diagnosed every day.

This year’s World MS Day theme focuses on improving diagnosis and helping people access the care and support they need sooner. Early recognition and treatment can make a meaningful difference.

Last week, the North Vancouver City Fire Department joined partner agencies at Carson Graham Secondary for a powerful mock crash presentation focused on the real-life consequences of distracted and impaired driving.

Led by the North Vancouver RCMP, Vancouver Coastal Health, ICBC, North Vancouver City Fire Department, School District 44, BCEHS and the North Shore Safety Council, the simulation was designed to educate students on the dangers of impaired driving.

Thank you to all the students, staff, volunteers, and partner agencies who helped make this important educational event possible.
