PEMO Search and Rescue A Map of Capital Region shows the location of the surrounding areas including North Saanich, Sidney and Central Saanich.

Volunteer members of PEMO Search and Rescue provide Ground Search and Rescue and Disaster Response primarily to the Saanich Peninsula municipalities of North Saanich, Central Saanich, and Sidney on Southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The Search and Rescue responsibility is primarily to these municipalities, but PEMO SAR has been tasked to provide mutual aid assistance in other areas in the surrounding regional area known as the Capital Regional District.

We had a very interesting training day with MSAR and CASARA. The scenario was of a downed plane and two subjects. CASARA...

We had a very interesting training day with MSAR and CASARA. The scenario was of a downed plane and two subjects. CASARA located the location of the ELT, provided co-ordinates, and also provided radio relays from their “high bird”, as radio coms between teams and ICP was very poor. Our teams searched and found the subjects for evacuation. Great team work! Thanks to CASARA, MSAR, and our training planner! Also to the dog teams, and bike team.

Last night, Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue was tasked with searching for a missing 15-year-old in Sooke. We’re very pleased to report that the youth has been located and is now safe with their family.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to COWSAR, MSAR, PEMO, Ladysmith SAR, Nanaimo SAR, CASARA, Sooke RCMP, RCMSAR -37 and BCEHS for their support and collaboration throughout the search.
We are also grateful to Andy’s Sooke Pizza for generously providing lunch for our search teams.
We would especially like to recognize the 100+ members of the Sooke community who came out to assist in the search efforts last night. We are truly fortunate to be part of such an incredible and supportive community.
Well done to everyone involved.
