Healing After Harm is a safe, supportive, trauma-informed space where women can connect with others, share their experiences, and take steps toward healing — at their own pace.

We name them. We talk about them. And we teach kids what to do if someone crosses a boundary.

Teaching children the correct names for their private body parts, understanding body boundaries, and knowing what to do when something doesn’t feel right is prevention education, and it matters.

Kids deserve the language, confidence, and tools to speak up. And adults need to know how to listen and respond.

Inspired by our friends at Saskatoon Sexual Assault & Information Centre, let’s talk about consent fries 🚦🍟

If you’ve ever been part of one of our facilitations, chances are you’ve heard us talk about FRIES (or maybe you’re even rocking one of our stickers or buttons 😏) FRIES is our favourite way to make consent simple, memorable, and crystal clear 👇🏼

Freely given means that real consent is given without pressure, manipulation, guilt, or fear. If someone feels like they have to say yes, that’s not consent.

Reversible means you can say yes to something and change your mind later. Just like you can start eating fries and decide you’re full halfway through!

Informed means you can only consent to something if you have all the information. If someone hides or lies about important facts, like not using protection, that undermines consent.

Enthusiastic consent isn’t “I guess it’s fine.” It’s “Yes! I want to!” If someone seems unsure or uncomfortable, check in.

Specific means that saying yes to one thing doesn’t mean yes to everything. Saying 'yes' to cuddling doesn’t mean 'yes' to anything else.

Consent should feel as satisfying and straightforward as ordering your favourite fries, never confusing, never forced, and always clear 🍟

The cycle of abuse follows a pattern that can keep people stuck.

It often begins with tension building, where criticism, control, or emotional manipulation slowly escalate. This leads to an explosion, where abuse occurs, whether physical, emotional, or sexual.
Afterward comes remorse, where apologies, guilt, and excuses show up, followed by the honeymoon phase filled with affection, promises, and temporary change.

Without real accountability and intervention, the cycle repeats. Understanding this pattern helps people recognize what is happening and reinforces that abuse is never justified, and lasting change requires more than apologies.

Lace up your runners and join us for the 3rd Annual Anchor & Thread 5K Fun Run & Walk on Saturday September 26, 2026!

Whether you're looking to challenge yourself, enjoy a leisurely walk, or support an important cause, we'd love to see you there. This year, we're also offering a 2K option for participants who prefer a shorter route.

Every registration helps support programs and services for survivors while raising awareness about prevention in our communities.
