This means fires are only allowed in approved receptacles, with NO open-air fires (meaning fires outside an approved receptacle) allowed. This does include fireworks.

If you do plan on having a fire in an approved receptacle, please remember that no fires are allowed during high winds, and ensure all fires are put out properly.

With it still being dry, and wind gust speeds expected to exceed 100 km/h today, the Town of Niverville wants to remind all residents that no burning is allowed during high winds.

Currently, our Fire Bylaw states that no fires are allowed to be set or maintained when wind speeds meet or exceed 32 km/h.

As well, please keep an eye out for and report immediately any downed power lines that you may notice.

As we move into backyard fire season, the Town of Niverville would like to remind residents to keep their backyard burning in approved fire pits. If you are interested in having a fire outside of your fire pit, an open-air fire permit would be required.

You can learn more about our fire bylaw and any permits you may need by clicking the link here: https://www.whereyoubelong.ca/fire-and-emergency-services/

This week is Public Telecommunications Week, and Niverville Fire & Emergency Services would like to recognize our 911 operators! These operators do an amazing job each and every day, and we want to say thank you for all you do!

When 911 is called in Niverville, it is answered at the Brandon Emergency Services Fire Hall #1. They answer all 911 calls in the province outside of Winnipeg, and dispatch fire departments and other agencies. For medical emergencies, they transfer calls to the Manitoba Transportation Coordination Centre, and for police emergencies, calls are transferred to the RCMP in Winnipeg.

Thank you for all you do!
