It was so touching to hear Ruth and George speak about how they are living in gratitude in Virgil. They spoke on behalf of the residents at the opening of the new Pleasant Manor Long-Term Care Home and spoke about how grateful they are for the care that they receive. It was an honour to hear them speak.

It is also an honour to work with the Community Services Team at the Niagara Region in ensuring seniors in Niagara-on-the-Lake are well served. It is so important we do not forget to show our appreciation for all that our seniors have done for our community.

I am excited to share my intention to run for Lord Mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake in this October’s municipal election.

As Lord Mayor, I will bring our community together and ensure we move forward with a shared sense of purpose. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a place defined by its history, its people, and its potential, and I will respect our past, lead today, and help shape tomorrow.

I bring a wealth of leadership experience in both business and politics, with over thirty years of experience leading and owning small businesses and close to fifteen years in municipal politics.

I currently serve as Regional Councillor representing the community of Niagara-on-the-Lake. This experience provides a unique and practical understanding of how decisions are made and how to work effectively across different levels of government. At a time when only mayors will sit on Regional Council, it is critical to have someone in this role who already understands how to navigate that responsibility.

This campaign is about bringing people together. By working collaboratively, we can build a future that respects our past while embracing new opportunities.

To my amazing team of volunteers, donors, and supporters: I know many of you will be disappointed that we didn’t win last night, but I want you to know that so grateful for your support over the years.

When I first decided to run for the nomination in 2019, I could never have imagined how many of our neighbours would step up and dedicate countless hours over three elections to support my vision for a better Niagara. There are literally hundreds of you to thank, and I want you to know you have my eternal gratitude. As I close the book on federal politics, I can confidently say I have no regrets and feel so fortunate to have met so amazing people.

I’m so relieved that Mark Carney will lead our beautiful country through this challenging time. He’s the right man for this moment and I am so proud to have run on his team. Now is the time to come together and unite as Canadians for a better future. In this vein, I congratulate Tony Baldinelli for his victory and wish him all the best as he returns to Ottawa on behalf of our community!
