Heritage Trail of Niagara on the Lake

Heritage Trail of Niagara on the Lake Upper Canada Heritage Trail runs along the old Erie and Ontario railway line.

The Heritage Trail Committee of NOTL was formed to raise funds to rehabilitate, maintain and beautify the trail and ensure all who use it can enjoy it safely.

The Heritage Trail Committee has just published a new card to tell people about the Trail and how to support its ongoing work. Check the website to download the card, and please send it to friends and family who enjoy outdoor activities in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake!

The Heritage Trail Committee wishes to thank the Goettler Family Foundation for their generous donation of $50,000 to extend the trail from Line 3 to Line 4. The work began in the summer of 2025 and will be completed by the end ofthis year.

Work on the Trail is progressing! It is now half-way completed and is now in Phase 3 which ends at Line 9.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the Trail through generous donations and volunteering their time!

Please check in at the welcome desk by 8:30 a.m. to receive a bag of doggy treats and a medal for your dog(s). The Walk starts at 9:30 a.m.Be sure to check out the vendors on-site offering a range of services and products for your pet.

The Niagara on the Lake Heritage Trail Committee would like to invite all to join us on a Community Walk on Saturday June 7 at 1pm. The Walk will be led by Special Olympics World Games Medalists Carter Simpson and Ewen Barclay.

The starting point is Veteran’s Park. Lots of free parking available. We’ll walk through the Commons to the entrance of the trail at John and King St and continue onto East West Line, then turn around and head back to Veterans Park. The walk is free and no signup required. Bring your friends, families and pets for a beautiful stroll along the lovely Heritage Trail. The return distance is 4klms. You can stop at any point or continue on to Line 3.

More good news! NOTL Town Council approved the allocation of $21,000 in remaining Discretionary Grant funds and in-kind support through Town labour to complete Phase 2 of the Heritage Trail, extending it from Line 2 to Line 3 Road.
