If you have been round to the library the past few days you will have noticed it is closed. Unfortunately the reason is that the dividing panel between the library and the other side of our garage had been moved. It is not a substantial divider but it had definitely been moved and given access to the other side of our garage. This is the latest incident in the library that has given me some concern. A week or so ago when I went to close the garage a number of books were on the floor, some with dust covers had had them removed and the covers were standing on the shelves, the books on the floor. Also on a number of occasions I have found that books have been put back on the shelves, spine inwards in random places around the library. As regular users will know we have been lucky enough to receive a number of donations recently of books in very good condition, adult, young adult and children. We have always been happy to have the library used regularly and have been encouraging more people to read. What is surprising us the moment is the number of books going out at the same time. An example is James Patterson books. We put 72 books of his out and 26 went overnight and now over half are gone, pretty much all the hardbacks. In the children’s section three days ago we put out four virtually new Rick O’Riordan books which have all gone at the same time. Six “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” have also gone at the same time, but they have always been popular! Once I can put the divider back the library will reopen, in the meantime if anyone wants to get a book just ring our bell and we will open the door for you. Please continue using the library, we enjoy running it and giving everyone the chance to read more, but can I also ask that you all keep an eye out and let us know if you see anyone messing about in there.
