On Monday night, Station #6 was proud to host the graduation of the 2026 Niagara Falls Volunteer Recruit Class.

These 11 recruits have spent the past six months learning the fundamentals of firefighting, including fire suppression, search and rescue, medical response, and auto extrication. The class also challenged the NFPA 1001 Level I and II Firefighter exams, as well as the NFPA 1035 Public Education exam.

The recruits will now report to their respective stations: Station #4 in Chippawa, Station #5 in Willoughby, and Station #6.

Congratulations again to all of the recruits, and best wishes for a long, safe, and rewarding career in the fire service.

On Tuesday evening at the City Council meeting, the Station #6 Association was formally recognized for its many years of dedicated service. Representing the Association were President Jim McKenney, Administrative Assistant Ben VanLuer, and Treasurer Don McCauley.

This recognition also marked the conclusion of the Association’s work, as it has now been officially dissolved. We extend our sincere thanks to all past members who, over more than 50 years, built a lasting legacy of service to the community. We also gratefully acknowledge the many community members who supported Association events throughout the years.

Giving back is at the heart of the Station #6 Association. The association is proud to present $2073.00 to the Hope Centre. The Hope Centre, based in Welland, is a non-profit that provides food, housing support, counselling, and community services to vulnerable people in Niagara.

Thanks again to our partners at Delta Bingo & Gaming for helping make this donation possible.
