Earlier this week Jason and I were honoured to represent at the Regional Stroke conference at Cortellucci-Vaughan hospital. This conference is very meaningful to both Jason and I as we have both been deeply affected by family members suffering a stroke. A big thank you to Anna Sewall, Debra Sayewich, and all of the volunteers involved to make such an incredible event a reality. It is heartwarming to meet stroke survivors and hear the stories they share to give others hope.
Remember "FAST" is a life-saving acronym used to spot the warning signs of stroke. If you or someone near you experiences any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately. Their life may depend on it.
F - Fave drooping: Ask the person to smile. Is it uneven?
A - Arm weakness: sudden weakness or numbing in one arm. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one drift downward?
S - Speach: Slurred speach, difficulty speaking. ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.
T - Time to call 911. If you observe any of these signs, call for help Immediately.
