Connection doesn’t have to be big to matter.

Sometimes, it begins in small moments—a pause, a breath, a check-in with yourself.

This Mental Health Week (May 4–10), we’re joining the Canadian Mental Health Association in recognizing how connection—on your own terms—can support mental health and well-being.

At Cedar Centre, we support individuals in reconnecting with themselves and others in ways that feel safe, gradual, and meaningful.

Connection can look different for everyone.

For some, it’s a moment of closeness. For others, it’s taking space, setting boundaries, or reaching out in small ways.

This Mental Health Week (May 4–10), we’re joining the Canadian Mental Health Association in recognizing the role connection plays in our mental health and well-being.

At Cedar Centre, we support individuals on their healing journeys—creating space for safety, choice, and connection at a pace that feels right for them.

We all have a role to play in supporting mental health.

This Mental Health Week (May 4–10), the Canadian Mental Health Association invites us to Come Together—through small, everyday moments of connection that help build stronger, healthier communities.

At Cedar Centre, we see the impact of connection every day. Through counselling, education, and advocacy, we work alongside individuals and families to support healing and create safer, more connected communities.

We all experience ups and downs in our mental health, and each person’s mental health is affected by unique situations and experiences. There is no “normal” when it comes to mental health, so we’re joining the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) because no one should feel pressured to hide their struggles.

Mental Health Week takes place May 4–10.

At Cedar Centre, we are committed to creating spaces where individuals feel seen, supported, and connected. In small, meaningful moments, we can support one another and make a difference. 🫶

We’re excited to share that nominations are now open for the 4th Annual Catering for a Cause, taking place May 27 at Newmarket’s Old Town Hall.

Over the past three years, this community event has raised more than $50,000 for local non-profit organizations, thanks to the incredible support of our community.

Local charities are now being nominated to be featured at this year’s event. If Cedar Centre’s work supporting survivors of trauma has made a difference for you or someone you know, we would be honoured if you considered nominating us.

Community voting will determine the three finalists, and attendees at the event will cast the final vote to decide who receives the funds raised.

🗓 Nominations close April 22
📣 Finalists announced April 24

Cedar Centre’s Adult Program supports individuals aged 19 years and older who have experienced interpersonal childhood trauma. The goal of the program is to help participants recover from the impact that interpersonal childhood trauma has had on their lives.

The program begins with STAIR (Skills Training in Affect & Interpersonal Regulation) — an 11-week, self-directed, virtual learning program that helps participants build practical skills for emotion regulation and healthier relationships.

Following STAIR, participants may access additional supports, including trauma-informed programming and individual therapy.

All programs are self-referral and begin with a phone intake and assessment.
