On July 29th, almost three weeks after the devastating Pinecrest fire, Ivy followed her nose straight into a trap being monitored by the Scent Rescue Team and VOKRA - Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association. To say everyone was thrilled by her safe return is an understatement! Since the fire, volunteers have worked tirelessly to locate the cats who remain missing. Ivy’s arrival brought an incredible sense of hope not only to her family, but to everyone involved in the search.
We want to take this opportunity to recognize the incredible individuals from Scent Rescue Team and VOKRA who have dedicated countless hours of their own time to this effort. They have searched the fire site and surrounding areas, monitored traps and cameras, and kept a close eye on social media for any sign of a stray cat who might be one of Pinecrest’s missing residents.
Our Animal Services team is incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated members of the community step forward during such a challenging and heartbreaking situation. Their compassion, perseverance, and commitment have made a tremendous difference.
While we celebrate Ivy’s safe return, we continue to hold close the families who are still waiting to be reunited with their cats. This includes Ivy’s family, who are still missing two of their beloved cats.
