It’s official. I’ve filed my nomination papers to run for New Westminster City Council!

I’m grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received along the way, and I’m looking forward to the weeks ahead, listening, learning, and continuing to meet residents across our city.

I’m proud to be running with Daniel Fontaine and the NWP team, offering New Westminster a responsive, practical, accountable alternative at City Hall.

New Westminster taxpayers deserve environmental action that delivers real local results.

The NWP will cancel the City’s participation in the ‘Sue Big Oil’ campaign and redirect those funds toward practical environmental programs that deliver visible results here at home — projects that can make our neighbourhoods greener, cooler and more resilient.

Environmental responsibility should be measured by results, not slogans.

Public business should happen in public whenever possible.

The NWP will hear more citizen delegations at regular Council meetings, publish agendas at least seven days in advance, and hold Council debate in public unless confidentiality is required by law.

Residents should not have to fight to see how decisions are made.

Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges facing New West. The NWP supports a practical, compassionate approach - more choices for seniors, families and first-time buyers, more affordable and supportive housing, and fewer unnecessary delays for good projects. We’ll work with BC Housing and senior governments while also advocating for a fair regional distribution of supportive housing across Metro Vancouver.

Let’s grow with care, compassion and common sense.

A stronger downtown benefits the whole city. New West’s downtown should be active, welcoming and full of life — with housing, local businesses, restaurants, public gathering spaces, arts, culture and street-level activity that bring people together.

The NWP will push for action on key sites, support temporary community uses while vacant sites await redevelopment, and bring fresh ideas to Columbia Street - from micro-retail to public art and pedestrian-friendly improvements.
