Besides 104th Westminster Regiment Fusiliers running the recruiting depot at Queens Park. This is where CEF Bn's such as 7th, 29th ( Tobin's Tigers), 47th ( plus 3 Reinfocrement Bn's) and others were formed. Its been estimated approx. 16,000 were trained there.

The next tasks were the protection of military vital points: railway trestles, armouries and the Queens Park Water Reservoir. Two photos of solidiers at the Reservoir.

Well we had to say goodbye to Cpl Chris Young. Chris has headed to Toronto. Attending university and his PhD in Archelogical studies.

Chris was very capable of doing museum tours, assisting families in researching family military histories.

As well as doing some research on some things we didnt know or debunking myths or finding new information.

For example: determining ownership of the 24 lb Crimiean Guns. They belong to the City.
The big one was tracking down original contract for the building of the Armouries. Determining the location of the RE Magazine. Determining and finding contracts for the Drill Shed on McKenzie St.

His efforts help debunk when the towers were added to the Armoury - built same time of main building. Where the basketball floor was and when it was removed. When the custodian room added. When was the basement dug... it was a Martini- Henry sub calbre range first. Plus the multitude of changes to the building. We still havent confirmed when the actual H Huts were added.

All of this has filled a display case on the Armouries. Still a work in progress.

Our objective was to base our facts on actual documents and not hearsay.

Chris also did two exhibits for us: Vimy Ridge and Melfa River.

Although the ghosts are hard to pin point.

Morning folks. Our The Royal Westminster Regiment Museum is on the road today. We are supporting the Royal Canadian Legion 100th Anniversary event at Branch 2 in New Westminster BC. We will post pictures etc from the event later today.

Hope everyone is enjoying there summer. The Museum has two requests.
1)Hoping for assistance. We like to update our 60mm Cdn mortar. Like to add a C2 sight. Our mortar has its bipod. Therefore, were looking for someone who owns a 3D printer. We like to scan a C2 sight (one from C6) then print the sight and add it to our mortar.
2) We like to thank former members of the Westie Airborne Platoon and our volunteers in helping provide equipment for our Airborne mannequin "Rob" display. Thanks to Capt Nic Weigelt , Kevin Crawford, Mike Scott, Dennis Keeton, David Christensen, Chris Young and others.

We are needing one last piece. The main para rigging. We have reached out to CAF Museums, CWM and DHH. We've added a photo on what were looking for. We have seen one or two on E Bay but asking $250-300.00. Anyone who can connect us to someone who might have one is appreciated.

With permission of the family. Cpl (Retd) Michael Campbell "Celebration of Life". Michael had served with 1922 RCARMCC in Aldergrove then joined the Westies. In 2007, Michael and other westies volunteered to participate in the Global War of Terror and go to Afghanistan. Previous Westies had participate in 2006 at the time MCpl TM Sandulak . Here are photos from todays events. From Sarah Fleming, she appreciated the large gathering of support today. It was a reflection on how Micheal loved others. As well as the team of Westies who helped put the event together. There a quite a few to thank. A especially heartfelt thanks to the Commanding Officer LCol Clint Uttley and RSM Dean Baron of The Royal Westminster Regiment where alot of this started.

As our volunteers ( Chris Young) looks into the history of the Armoury and Drill Shed he finds other things.

Who owns the 2 x Crimean 24lb smooth bore howitzers? Is it the City? Under a arrangement? Or the GOC. The cannons currently in the City of New Westminster Works yard. As they go through another restoration.

So, through Military District 11 documents the truth is revealed.
