Founded in 1968, The New Minas Volunteer Fire Department is a 100% volunteer fire service, on call 24/7 to serve the New Minas fire protection area. We operate with a modern fleet of seven pieces of fire apparatus, three water rescue craft and an all terrain rescue/wildland firefighting vehicle from one central station on Jones Rd. We average between 200-300 calls for service per year including, s

tructural firefighting, vehicle extrication and medical first response. Together with neighbouring Departments we also participate in technician level Hazardous materials response, high angle rope rescue, water rescue and dive team operations. Our department also has a dedicated auxiliary force that assists with fundraising efforts and provides support during large scale incidents to our firefighters. In support of our efforts we host a variety of fundraisers throughout the year including bingo every Monday & Friday evening starting at 7pm at our station. 🖤 Our Deepest Condolences 🖤
The members of New Minas Volunteer Fire Department extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kentville Fire Department, and to the family, friends, and fellow firefighters mourning the loss of Joel Neily.
Joel’s battle with cancer has come to an end, but his dedication, service, and commitment to his community will never be forgotten.
The fire service is more than a profession or volunteer role — it is a family. In times like these, we are reminded that we are all brothers and sisters, standing together in support, strength, and remembrance.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by this loss.
Rest easy, Joel. Your watch is complete. 🚒🖤
