⚠️ Reminder! A planned power outage is scheduled for tonight, September 16, starting at 10:00pm. Power is expected to be restored by 4:00am on September 17.

BC Hydro has scheduled a full community power outage overnight on September 16 to 17, 2026 to allow crews to safely complete high-voltage work within the Telkwa Substation.

- Date: September 16-17, 2026
- Power Off: 10:00pm
- Estimated Restoration: 4:00am
- Area Affected: Telkwa to Kitwanga

Please plan ahead and make any necessary preparations before the outage begins.
BC Hydro will also be contacting affected customers directly.

*General Voting Day is Saturday October 17, 2026, with the official campaign period running from September 19 to October 17.

As of Thursday August 27, the provincial state of emergency ends, however wildfire risk remains. This change does not affect evacuation orders or evacuation alerts.

BC has ENDED the State of Provincial Emergency, effective Aug. 27, due to wildfire.There is no impact to existing States of Local Emergency, Evacuation Orders or Evacuation Alerts.

While the State of Provincial Emergency is ending, wildfire season is not over.

The province will continue to respond to the wildfire situation and support impacted communities.

Residents and visitors in B.C. are urged to:

• Follow the direction of local authorities, including any Evacuation Orders and Alerts.
• Check conditions before travelling and follow directions from officials.
Safety reminders:

RDKS is approaching the end of it's five-month Kitwanga pilot program for the adjusted operating hours. They would now like to gather feedback from residents and facility users on their experience with the new hours.

The feedback received will help determine whether to keep the new operating hours or return to the previous operating hours.

City West is currently down making us limited on the transactions we are able to do. In addition, everything is cash only at this time. We will update when we hear more.
