Training Tuesday 🚒

Last Monday night members of Station 2 - New Dundee had the opportunity to get hands-on with our aerial truck and learn more about its capabilities and operations.

Members practiced hooking up the water supply and flowing water from the aerial ladder, giving them a chance to see the equipment in action. They also took on the 75-foot ladder climb and got a different perspective from the top!

Hands-on training like this helps our members build confidence, understand our equipment, and be better prepared when called upon to serve our community.

Train together. Learn together. Respond together.

Did you know that cooking is the leading cause of home fires?

The good news? Most cooking fires are preventable. Staying alert and following a few simple safety tips can help keep your kitchen and your family safe.

✅ Stay in the kitchen when cooking
✅ Keep anything that can catch fire away from the stovetop
✅ Keep a pot lid nearby to cover small grease fires
✅ If a fire starts in a pan and you cannot safely put it out, get out, stay out and call 9-1-1

A few extra minutes of attention in the kitchen can prevent a fire from becoming a disaster.

Test It Tuesday!!

When was the last time you tested your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms?

Test your alarms monthly and replace alarms every 10 years to make sure they're working when you need them most.

A few seconds of testing today could make a life-saving difference tomorrow!!

Did you know?

As of January 1, 2026 you are now required to have a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm on every level of your home if your home has a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage.

✅ Make sure you have a CO alarm on every level
✅ Test your alarms monthly
✅ Replace alarms when they expire every 10 years
✅ Know the signs and symptoms of CO exposure

A permit helps ensure your fire is being enjoyed safely and in accordance with Wilmot Township’s Open Air Burning Bylaw.
