UPDATE:

SOLD to Wallace Volunteer Fire Department

We are selling this 1996 E-One Cyclone 65' Ladder Truck. Certified yearly. We have used this truck for quite a few years without many issues. It has air leaks and it's old like our Chief, but still works fine 😄. We upgraded this week to Crossroads FD's used 95' platform ladder truck and we are willing to pass on our old Ladder to someone interested. Asking price is 25k. We had a great "relay" training the other night. Firefighters were all smiles while they trained on a "timed" training all while learning new skills and sharpening our response times. The "winning" team shared their winning treats with everyone. Great team, we are proud to serve with.

On Friday the NGFD with help from Rustico Fire battled a barn on fire. Island EMS and Fire Marshall's Office also attended the scene.
There were 2 horses in the barn at the time who were saved by the quick work from their neighbor. The neighbor heard a bang and lost power. When he looked outside he noticed smoke coming from the barn and quickly phoned 911. No animals or people were harmed in the fire. One of the horses actually raced on Saturday and finished 3rd in the race. A camper close to the structure suffered some damage but the owner got it pulled away before losing it as well.
Team work and community service was very evident in this fire from every angle.
Sorry for the building loss for the family, but they will rebuild and move on.

Planning some yard clean up? While burning brush is legal.... burning garbage or household waste is not. Open burning must always follow provincial rules.

Burning waste releases harmful pollutants and increases wildfire risk.

✅Check daily burn restrictions.
✅Burn only approved materials.
❌Never burn household waste.
✅Fires must be attended at all times.

It's dry out there folks, please practice fire safety and follow the rules and burn restrictions. The woods, ground etc are dry and easily ignited. This was a re-ignition of a control burn from the previous day. Just goes to show what the wind and dry weather can do.
Thankfully this one got put out quickly.

Our fallen Paramedics, will make their way home today.
They will be coming through our area around 4pm and you will notice a large presence of members, family and friends doing a Salute as they come by from Hunter River, by our hall and to Central Queens Funeral.
Please slow down, pay attention and be patient as we all navigate through this.
Thank you for your understanding and supprt as we bring them home.
