The 2026 Census has begun, and we need your support!

Census data are critical to decision makers and Canadians from coast to coast to coast. The Census of Population provides high-quality information on key socioeconomic trends and analysis that helps Canadians make important decisions that affect our families, our communities and our businesses.

The 2026 Census is underway across the country and households received a census invitation letter by mail with information on how to complete their questionnaire. Completing the census questionnaire online is easy, secure and confidential. Respondents without reliable access to the Internet can request a paper questionnaire or complete it over the phone by calling the Census Help Line. For more information visit: census.gc.ca/contact-us.

Registration is open for the Children’s Summer Food Program.

The program is primarily intended for families currently receiving financial support through social assistance or assured income programs. Families who are not enrolled in these programs but are experiencing financial hardship or food insecurity may complete a registration form to apply.

Precooked, frozen meals that can be reheated are available throughout July and August for Island families with school-aged children. Registration is required, and meals will be delivered across the province. The program runs from July 8 to September 2, 2026, with deliveries taking place every Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Each registered child will receive seven frozen meals per delivery. For food safety reasons, someone must be present to accept the delivery, as meals cannot be left unattended.

PEI residents aged 18 and over are invited to participate in a short online survey on climate change and food security in PEI. The purpose of the research is to gather food security experiences from communities across PEI to help ensure that local voices and experiences are represented. The survey is part of a Master’s thesis research project being conducted by Parsa Khorsand, a graduate student at the University of Prince Edward Island, under the supervision of Dr. Sara Sadri.

The survey includes 24 questions, takes about 10 minutes to complete, is completely voluntary, and does not collect identifying information. Participants can also enter a weekly draw for a $25 Sobeys gift card.

You can access the survey here: https://forms.office.com/r/35fygaNwCS

🚧 Great News! 🚧

We are pleased to announce that the new parking lot at Mutter Park is now complete and open for use!

As part of the finishing touches, several surrounding areas have recently been seeded. We kindly ask everyone to please stay off the newly seeded grass areas around the parking lot to allow the grass time to properly grow and establish.

Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we continue improving the park for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for helping us keep Mutter Park looking its best! 🌱
