Total Communication Environment (TCE) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November 1979 and obtained charitable status in early 1980. TCE's mandate was to provide a home to a small group of children with multiple disabilities and special communication needs, licensed under Ministry of Health

TCE has grown and evolved, in direct response to the changing needs of the original group of

children and others in our community including individuals wit developmental disabilities. TCE was than licensed under the Ministry of Children and Community Social Services

TCE providing a variety of support to over 90 individuals with developmental, multiple disabilities and special communication needs. TCE Supports:
- RESIDENTIAL SUPPORTS - from minimal to 24 hours ,
7 days a week in a variety of settings including apartments for one person, townhouses for a few roommates to homes for individuals with complex and behavioural needs.
- COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION - through a variety of community activities, including educational, recreational, vocational, volunteer work, and employment
- RESPITE AND OUTREACH - respite to families supporting individuals at home and outreach to long term care homes in the Ottawa area, for adults wit developmental disabilities and communication needs.

Everyone spent the day doing a spring clean-up in the front yard with Gareth and Mike, and the front entrance is looking awesome again! 🌿☀️
Everyone worked hard together to make the space welcoming and beautiful for all who visit and live there. It was great to see such teamwork, dedication, and pride in a job well done.
To celebrate all their hard work, the group headed to McDonald’s for lunch together a well-deserved treat! 🍔😊

It was wonderful to see everyone together and celebrate the amazing dedication and commitment of our employees. We truly couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of you. We are who we are because of your hard work, compassion, and support. 💙
