Keep Yard Waste Out of Your Garbage Bins!

Did you know that placing grass clippings, leaves, branches, and other yard waste in your black garbage bin increases the weight of our landfill loads? Since the Town pays disposal costs based on the weight of each load, extra yard waste means higher costs for everyone over time.

Instead, please use the Town's Yard Waste Drop-Off Area located at 1914 19th Avenue.

Accepted materials include:
🌱 Grass clippings
🍂 Leaves and natural yard debris (no kitchen or construction waste)
🌳 Branches up to 5 cm in diameter (about the width of a pop can)

Please remember:
• No garbage bags or packaging of any kind.
• Empty all materials loose at the site.
• This facility is for Town of Nanton residents and businesses only.

By using the yard waste site properly, you're helping keep disposal costs down, protecting our environment, and ensuring this service remains available for everyone. Thank you for doing your part to keep Nanton clean!

Tentative Dust Abatement – Thursday Evening

Weather permitting, the Town of Nanton is planning to complete dust abatement on Thursday, Jun 11, 2026, in the evening, after local businesses have closed, to help minimize disruptions.

The tentative work areas include:
• 19 Avenue
• The road by Home Hardware and Cattman's Corner
• The Hive area
• 25 Street (downtown)
• 16 Street (downtown)

Please note that this schedule is tentative and may change due to the forecasted weather conditions, including rain. If conditions are not suitable, the work will be rescheduled for a later date.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important maintenance to help reduce dust and improve road conditions for residents and businesses.

Highway 2 Southbound Manhole Adjustments

You may have noticed crews regularly adding cold mix asphalt around the recently raised manholes on Highway 2 southbound. This is a normal and necessary part of the road construction process.

After the manholes are raised to their final height, the temporary cold mix is placed around them and allowed to settle and compact under regular traffic. Crews may need to top it up several times as it packs down. Once the material has stabilized, the permanent asphalt can be placed around the manholes to provide a smooth, long-lasting finish.

While we understand this process takes time, allowing the area to settle properly helps ensure a better quality repair and reduces the need for future maintenance.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this work progresses and thank you for driving with care through the construction area.

Tomorrow is Bike Rodeo Day at A.B. Daley School!

Peace Officer Carlos and Ms. Mappin are excited and ready for a morning of bike safety, fun activities, and plenty of prizes. Students will have the opportunity to practice their cycling skills, learn important safety tips, and enjoy a great community event.

Residents are advised that 24 Avenue in front of A.B. Daley/JT Foster School will be temporarily closed tomorrow morning after the school buses have departed and morning drop-off is complete, to allow the Bike Rodeo to take place safely.
