Established in 1996, Kw'umut Lelum Child and Family Services is an aboriginal based agency located in Snuneymuxw territory that provides caregiving services and community programs and services to nine First Nations on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Caregivers
Le'lumilh program is for children and young people aged from 0 – 19 years old. To help us provide quality care for these children and young people we are responsible for recruiting, training and supporting quality caregivers. We have a quality Le'lumilh team who devote themselves to supporting our caregivers and children in care. Community Programs
Our community programs aim to make a difference for children, young people and families. We invest heavily in programs and initiatives that are focused on young Aboriginal people. We want to implement programs and initiatives that proudly display our culture and many talents. Aboriginal Advocacy
We continue to provide advocacy support and assist where possible to ensure that our clients or community members are receiving appropriate or adequate services or in an effort to resolve certain situations. Promoting Community Cultural Awareness
We will always proudly promote Aboriginal culture, history and values through providing and attending community events, service promotion, service literature and service delivery. Partnership Exploration
Where appropriate, we will link with other quality services in an effort to support or improve our own service delivery. Where appropriate, we will enter into partnership arrangements to increase service output.

🏊 Children ages 3–6 with neurodiversity, autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, and diverse abilities are invited to join us for a supportive swim experience designed around their individual comfort and needs.

Sessions offer a calm, predictable structure, sensory-aware pacing, and no forced steps, allowing children to participate at their own pace and build confidence in the water.

EVENT UPDATE: Community Jam Session & Wellness Fair
We regret to share that our Community Jam Session & Wellness Fair, originally planned for September 26, will be postponed.
We want this gathering to be a meaningful, welcoming and enjoyable day for our communities. We’ve decided to take some additional time to make sure everything is in place to create the best experience possible for everyone who joins us.
We appreciate the interest and support we’ve received and thank everyone for their understanding. 💛
A new date has not yet been set, but we look forward to sharing updated plans once they are confirmed.

Good morning, Penelakut families and friends.

We have some items available for giveaway at the Kw’umut Lelum Youth Centre today. If you missed out last week, come by while supplies last. Items are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We’ll also be prioritizing youth for the backpacks and pencil cases. We have a limited number of wooden fish hangers available as well.

While you’re here, stop by and grab a banana bread in a bag from our alternative Qapthut Sii’ye’yu Family Day!

⚽ Community Soccer Sundays are just around the corner!

Youth from our nine Member Nations are welcome to join us in Snaw-Naw-As and Snuneymuxw for drop-in Soccer Sundays. These sessions will focus on scrimmage-style play in a fun, inclusive, and culturally safe environment.

Please note that transportation is not provided. Be sure to bring a pair of runners, as cleats cannot be worn on the Mini Pitch.

Today, September 9, we recognize Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day.
FASD is a lifelong, often invisible disability that affects each person differently. When we look beyond behaviour, build on strengths, and respond with patience and understanding, we can help children, youth, and families feel supported and included.

Kw’umut Lelum’s FASD Key Worker, Seda Ozer, walks alongside families to help them better understand their child’s needs, develop helpful strategies, and connect with services and resources.
