Each office is staffed with a team of professionals.

Volunteer Boards
One of the keys to our success is that investment decisions are made by an
independent Board of Directors sensitive to the needs of the community. The
directors are volunteers, generally business men and women, who believe in our
communities and possess an outstanding commitment to making them a better
place in which to live and work. Past surveys have indicated that the stren

gth of
the CBDCs is in our volunteer Boards. The knowledge of the local markets, the
business environment and people is the basis for our effectiveness and success. Their job is to meet with
people who are in various stages of the business cycle, review business plans,
and make suggestions where warranted.

Shelburne County Cold Storage was created to meet a real need in Nova Scotia’s lobster industry—providing reliable, local cold storage and cutting hours off transportation time ⚓ Founded by Brian O’Connor and Calvin Williams, the business grew by listening to fishermen, adapting to seasonal demands, and always showing up when it mattered 🤝. With support from CBDC Shelburne, the team secured financing, expanded their facility, and built a service that keeps seafood, jobs, and economic impact in the community 🌊💙

Based in Renews, NL, JWP Fishing, led by John Will Brazil, is rooted in tradition and built for the future 🌊 After taking over his family’s fishing enterprise, John expanded operations, invested in his own vessel, and continues to support local jobs and the coastal economy. Passionate about preserving small fishing communities, he balances life on the water with community leadership 🤝 With support from CBDC Celtic, John accessed financing to upgrade and maintain his operation—helping ensure this way of life can be passed down for generations 🚤💙

🎣⚓ Pour une pêche et une communauté solides
Basée à Renews à Terre-Neuve, l’entreprise JWP Fishing de John Will Brazil est ancrée dans la tradition et tournée vers l’avenir. 🌊 Après avoir repris l’entreprise de pêche familiale, John a élargi ses activités et investi dans son propre navire afin de poursuivre l’emploi local et stimuler l’économie côtière. Passionné par la préservation des petites communautés de pêcheurs, il concilie vie sur l’eau et leadership communautaire. 🤝 Grâce au soutien financier de la CBDC Celtic, John a pu moderniser et maintenir ses activités, et ainsi assurer la transmission de ce mode de vie aux générations futures. 🚤💙
