To commemorate VOCM's 90th anniversary, we're continuing with our special Staff Giving Initiative. For the first 9 months of the year, we will be making a monthly donation to a charity chosen by a member of the VOCM team - each one a cause close to their heart.

For the month of June, Steve Trotter - Assistant Program Director with K-Rock has selected the NL Prostate Cancer Support Groups.

As someone whose family recently experienced prostate cancer firsthand, he believes this is a wonderful initiative. The organization provides sessions for prostate cancer patients and their families, while also making prostate cancer information readily available to help boost awareness. Given the reluctance of many men to seek medical help or dismiss symptoms as "just getting older," these sessions have the potential to save lives. All funds donated remain within the province.

On Thursday, June 4, the Newfoundland and Labrador Prostate Cancer Support Groups took part in a health fair at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay. The event was sponsored by the Community Sector Council Newfoundland and Labrador. Sue Hammond, Rod Abbott, and I met a lot of wonderful people and distributed a lot of important information.

We are reaching out today with an update on upcoming online classes for the Life On Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) Educational Program. The next online classes will be held on May 13, June 22, and July 15, 2026, all at 7:30 p.m. Newfoundland time. If you know anyone who you feel would be interested in taking part in this program, please let them know.
Sessions are totally FREE, one-time, and interactive. There will be absolutely no follow-up contacts or attempts sell you anything, but after your session Canadian participants will receive a FREE copy of the book described below.
Register early because space is limited.
