Let’s do our part in keeping our farming community safe this seeding season! 🚜🌾

Thank you Morden Fire & Rescue for sharing some great tips!

🚜 Seeding season is here, and that means more farm equipment on our roads.
Please slow down and be patient when approaching tractors and other large equipment.

⚠️ They move slower than you think
↩️ Wide turns do NOT mean it is safe to pass
🚗 Only pass when visibility is clear, and it is completely safe
Our local farmers are working long hours this time of year. Let’s all do our part to share the road safely. 🌱

This weeks training night was all about Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). We reviewed the components and functions of SCBA as well as performing donning and doffing procedures. To make it more challenging, we practiced donning blindfolded and wearing gloves! To end the evening we had a friendly competition to see who could get geared up the quickest!

Today we are wrapping up our crew introductions with Lieutenant Richard Collette!

Richard has been on the department since 2007.
He was a general member of the fire department until 2011 when he became the lieutenant in charge of training and has held that position since.

Richard’s inspirations were growing up in a household where his father was a volunteer firefighter and he wanted to be part of something in his community / be able to give something back to the community he grew up in.

His favourite piece of equipment is our main engine. He enjoys running our pumps on large scenes and managing all the different things going on.

In Richard’s spare time, he enjoys coaching his girls hockey teams during the winter and spending a lot of time camping with his family in the summer.

Meet Firefighter Max Holness!

He has been on the department for about a year and a half, and his main roles thus far have been traffic and extra support where needed.

Max’s inspiration for becoming a firefighter was following family steps.

His favourite piece of equipment is the axe because it’s a versatile blunt/sharp tool to use.

Away from the fire hall, Max likes to figure out what renovations need to be done around his house and plan for his house and yard for the future.

Meagan Dilts is one of our newest members!

She joined the department in January of this year and is gaining experience and learning in different areas!

Meagan was inspired to join to become more involved in the community that she loves and to take on something new and challenging!

She doesn’t have a favourite piece of equipment just yet, as she is still getting familiar with everything.

Outside of the fire hall, Meagan is the Recreation Facilitator for the Town of Morris, which keeps her quite busy. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, camping, gardening, and movie nights with her family.

Meet Megan Thiessen!

She has been on the department for nearly two years. During that time, she’s been actively involved in patient care and has remained flexible in supporting wherever needed.

Megan comes from a strong family background in the fire service within our community. Her grandparents were both involved, with her grandfather serving as Chief, and dad currently serving as Acting Chief. Growing up around that environment inspired Megan to follow in their footsteps. She always had a passion for helping others, whether in emergency situations, community events, or public education.

Megans favourite piece of equipment is her turnout gear and SCBA because it protects us on the front lines and allows us to do our job safely. She also really values the Halligan tool as it’s incredibly versatile and can be used in a wide range of situations.

Outside of the hall, Megan enjoys spending time with her family and her golden retriever, especially at their cabin during the summer. Playing ringette and volleyball and teaching swimming help keeps her active and motivated. She also has a strong passion for growing plants and flowers, while recently purchasing the local flower shop to further pursue that interest!
