Chief Dixon joined the Assembly of First Nations delegation this week to meet with King Charles iii in London England today.
Chief Dixon talked directly about the lack of respect governments seem to have with our nation to nation treaties signed with the British Crown.
The King listened very carefully and was very respectful to our concerns.
The delegation was then hosted at the Canadian High Commission/Embassy at Canada House at Trafalger Square in London.

Assembly of First Nations Delegation Meets with His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace

Today, National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak joined a delegation of Regional Chiefs, Chiefs and Elders in a meeting with His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. This important gathering reflects the longstanding international diplomatic and Treaty relationship between First Nations and the Crown.

During the meeting, First Nations leadership reaffirmed the sacred and enduring nature of the Treaty relationship, emphasizing that Treaties are nation-to-nation agreements that carry perpetual obligations. Leaders highlighted the importance of respecting First Nations’ inherent rights, self-determination, and the principle of free, prior, and informed consent.

The Assembly of First Nations extends its gratitude to His Majesty for the opportunity to engage in this meaningful dialogue and looks forward to continuing a relationship grounded in mutual respect, Treaty obligations, and partnership.

The AFN also gratefully acknowledges the First Nations Bank of Canada for its support of the delegation’s travel costs.
