We are proud to serve 5000+ students within 17 schools in Sturgeon County and surrounding areas. Student success is the focus of our educational programs.

Sturgeon Public Schools has a long history of outstanding education along with a strong sense of community. We are proud of the welcoming atmosphere that exists at our schools. In addition to continuing success in provincial achievement tests and diploma exams, many of

our students are rewarded with the Alexander Rutherford scholarships. Students in our vocational programs also achieve high levels of success, winning top honours in local, provincial and national competitions. Sturgeon Public graduates are prepared to excel at post-secondary institutions and in their future careers. Our schools offer a wide range of programming options, from core subjects to advanced placement to vocational training and more. We also offer the Head Start programs to assist young children with communication and school readiness skills as well as an alternate high school program for students outside of a traditional school setting. Top-quality teachers and unique programs keep Sturgeon Public schools on the leading edge of education in Alberta. Did you know Sturgeon Public Schools families can use the Bus Status App to keep track of bus delays and cancellations?

With the app, you can follow the routes that matter to your family and receive push notifications when their status changes, making it easier to know when there’s an update to your child’s bus.

🚌 Back to school means back to the bus!

As students settle into a new school year, it’s a great time for families to review a few simple habits that help keep every ride safe.

On the bus:
🔹 Stay seated and face forward
🔹 Use your indoor voice
🔹 Keep snacks packed away
🔹 Keep your head and arms inside the bus
🔹 Keep the aisle clear

Know the Danger Zone

The areas immediately around a school bus can be difficult for the driver to see. Please remind your child to:

🔹 Never walk or cross behind the bus
🔹 Never reach under the bus. If something is dropped, tell the driver
🔹 Wait for the driver’s signal before crossing the street

Register by Tuesday, June 30th to ensure transportation service is available for the first day of school.

Plus, families who submit transportation fees before the deadline will receive a 10% early-bird discount.

The 2026–2027 school year will begin with a Staggered Start for all students across Sturgeon Public Schools.

Families are encouraged to watch for upcoming information from their child's school, which will include specific details regarding which day they are scheduled to attend and back-to-school plans.

Register Early and Save!

Families who submit transportation fees before Tuesday, June 30 will receive a 10% early-bird discount.

To guarantee transportation service for the first day of school, registration must be completed by the deadline.

🏠 Building Futures has wrapped up for the year — and what an inspiring journey it has been! 🎉

From framing to finishing, the Building Futures students worked together as a crew while gaining valuable hands-on experiences.

A special congratulations goes out to Brodie Baker, this year’s Builder of the Year Award recipient! His commitment to the program, work effort, and passion for learning truly stood out.

This incredible program was made possible with the support of our industry partners at San Rufo Homes in St. Albert and Build Alberta Apprenticeships Foundation who opened their worksite to mentor our students throughout this journey.

We are incredibly proud of the Building Futures crew and all they accomplished this year! 🔨✨
