This community really cleaned up!

Residents of Pine Sands recently came together for a FireSmart community cleanup day, taking action on their own properties to help reduce wildfire risk in their neighbourhood. By clearing brush, removing ladder fuels, pruning trees, and maintaining defensible space around their homes, residents helped make Pine Sands more wildfire resilient, one property at a time.

This project is the first of its kind in Sturgeon County and demonstrates how collaboration and community partnerships can create real results. Every resident who participated played an important role in protecting not only their own property, but also their neighbours' and the community as a whole.

A special thank you to RMS Land Clearing for generously donating a crew and equipment for the day. Your support and expertise helped make this initiative a success.

We also extend our thanks to the residents who showed up and everyone who contributed their time and effort. With the success of this event, we look forward to expanding this initiative to other communities in the future.

Drive safe this long weekend.

Last Labour Day weekend, four people lost their lives on Alberta roadways. RCMP officers also issued 1,661 traffic violation tickets and removed 99 impaired drivers from our roads.

Before you head out this long weekend, remember:

🚫 Don't drive impaired
😴 Don't drive fatigued
📱 Don't drive distracted
🚗 Follow speed limits and traffic laws
✅ Make sure everyone is buckled up

This Labour Day long weekend, Alberta RCMP will be conducting enhanced traffic enforcement across the province to help keep Alberta roads safe.

Let's work together to make sure everyone gets home safely. Make smart choices, look out for one another, and help keep Alberta's roads safe for everyone.
