Yesterday’s International Court of Justice ruling is a win for workers around the world.

The court affirms that the right to strike is a protected right under international law

These rights were won by workers organizing. We will always defend our right to bargain collectively and withdraw our labour.

PSAC - UNDE Local 40807 workers are on strike. They work at 15 Wing for Sodexo (an outside contractor)as maintenance and food provision staff. They want their employer to get back to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair collective agreement. Please support them and join them if you can. This is a rotating strike, so check the following website each morning to see if the line is active that day. Sending strength and solidarity 💪

By now it’s unsurprising that Carney’s Liberals are openly anti-worker, repeatedly caving to corporate interests and violating the right to strike through Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code.

While the Liberals quietly plan changes to our labour laws that ignore the voices of workers, Canada’s NDP / Le NPD du Canada is saying loud and clear: no more attacks on workers’ rights.

As the government teams up with big CEOs to roll back fundamental rights, we need working class communities across Canada to resist corporate-backed authoritarianism. That starts with passing to repeal Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code.

More than 2,000 union delegates at came together to send a clear message to Danielle Smith:

🚫 We will not allow two-tier, American-style health care in Canada.

Together, we overwhelmingly adopted an emergency resolution opposing Alberta’s push toward privatized health care and calling on the federal government to enforce the Canada Health Act.

Union activists from Alberta shared powerful stories about the growing crisis in their communities and called on all of us to stand united against privatization.

Public health care is one of the things that defines us as Canadians — and we are ready to fight to protect it.

Health care is a human right and we will always fight for it.

The Moose Jaw Lake Centre Lanigan NDP supports UNDE 40807. These PSAC - AFPC workers are LOCKED out at 15 Wing Moose Jaw by Sodexo. Even worse, Sodexo has hired SCABS to replace the locked out workers. The UNDE 40807 workers should be protected by Canada's anti-scab legislation which bans the use of replacement workers during strikes and lock outs. Sodexo, however, is using a regulatory loophole to bring scabs onto a federal property. Shame!

This is unacceptable! The Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan NDP stands in Solidarity with the PSAC members locked out by Sodexo at 15 Wing Moose Jaw. All workers must retain the right to collectively bargain for fair wages and benefits.

We were so pleased to have federal NDP Leader Avi Lewis and MP for Winnipeg Centre Leah Gazan join us in Moose Jaw. The Union Centre was packed! Avi Lewis is an effective speaker and these are exciting times for the NDP.
