The 2027 CBC Short Story Prize is open until November 1. Writers can submit original, unpublished fiction up to 2,500 words. The winner will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, a two-week writing residency at The Banff Centre, and their work will be published on CBC Books. Posters are available here to promote in your library. Francophone patrons can also submit their work to the Prix de la nouvelle Radio-Canada 2027.

KinderReady Readers is Palliser Regional Library’s New early literacy initiative for children ages 0–5. We’re helping families build a love of reading from the very start by providing free books that support early brain development, language skills, and kindergarten readiness. Reading with young children boosts vocabulary, communication, imagination, and confidence—and helps set them up for lifelong learning success. By putting books directly into families’ hands, we’re making it easier for every child to build a home library and positive reading habits early on. Ask your Rural Branch Librarian for details!

Did you attend a Summer Reading Club program at one of our library branches this summer? Whether you attended with your child, brought a young reader to a program, or participated in an Adult Summer Reading Club program, we’d love to hear from you!

We are inviting parents, caregivers, grandparents, and other adults—as well as anyone who attended an Adult Summer Reading Club program—to complete a short survey about their experience.
