The Naksa, or “setback,” was the forced exodus of over 300,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza, after the territories were captured by Israel in the 1967 war. The setback demonstrated to the Palestinians and Arab masses that they could not rely on Arab regimes, but instead, would have to organize themselves if the Palestinian struggle was to survive. MONTREAL - Break the silence on TUESDAY, MAY 19 in front of MP Anthony Housefather’s office (4770 Kent Ave.) at 4 PM to protest the unlawful attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla!

Our humanitarian mission to break the illegal siege imposed by the occupation has once again been subjected to extrajudicial high-seas piracy and kidnapping in international waters, approximately 250 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza. Several Canadians have been abducted, including Montreal resident Safa Chebbi.

Anthony Housefather – a staunch Zionist, chair of the Canada-Israel Inter-parliamentary Group, and member of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association – is also Safa’s MP.

Like the flotilla, this is a lawful, nonviolent action. In collaboration with similar actions taking place in other cities across the country, it is intended to communicate our 5 demands of the Canadian government:

1. Sanction israel
2. Arms embargo now!
3. Press for an end to the siege on Gaza
4. Call for the release of all 10,000 Palestinian hostages
5. Protect all Canadians participating in the flotilla and demand their release.
