Today, June 4, is Holocaust Survivor Day—a day to honour Holocaust survivors, celebrate their resilience, and recognize the extraordinary contributions they continue to make to our families, communities, and society.

Today, survivors represent a powerful living connection to Holocaust history. Celebrate the lives and resilience of the 220,000+ survivors worldwide. Cummings Centre member, Andrew Fuchs is one of those survivors.

On June 8, the Azrieli Holocaust Survivor Memoirs will invite him
to share his journey through his memoir, "The Wind Carries Me/Le Vent me porte", a short film, and a special musical presentation with the Cummings World Choir. (We've included a sneak peek of them rehearsing!)

Aujourd’hui, le 4 juin, est la Journée des survivant(e)s de l’Holocauste — une journée pour rendre hommage aux survivant(e)s de l’Holocauste, célébrer leur résilience et reconnaître les contributions extraordinaires qu’ils et elles continuent d’apporter à nos familles, à nos communautés et à notre société.

Aujourd’hui, les survivant(e)s représentent un puissant lien vivant avec l’histoire de l’Holocauste. Célébrons la vie et la résilience des plus de 220 000 survivant(e)s à travers le monde. Le membre du Centre Cummings, Andrew Fuchs, est l’un de ces survivant(e)s.

👉🏽 Did you know that we offer meaningful intergenerational programs?

Today's Intergenerational Day in Canada, so let us introduce you to LEDA!

The Cummings Centre champions intergenerational programming that brings seniors and high school students together in meaningful ways. Its LEDA Program (Leadership. Education. Development. Action.) engages Secondary 4 students in leadership workshops and collaboration with senior volunteers. This year, students from JPPS-Bialik, Talmud Torah / Herzliah and École Maïmonide-Officielle created a portrait and vernissage project honouring influential Jewish leaders. 👏🏽

In the West Island, in partnership with Kuper Academy Student Life, participants also completed the R.E.A.C.H. Project, highlighting values of Respect, Empathy, Accountability, Courage, and Humility.

Aujourd’hui, c’est la Journée intergénérationnelle au Canada. Nous souhaitons donc vous présenter LEDA!

Le Centre Cummings est un fier promoteur de programmes intergénérationnels qui rapprochent les aîné(e)s et les élèves du secondaire dans le cadre d’activités significatives. Son programme LEDA (Leadership, Éducation, Développement, Action) permet aux élèves de 4e secondaire de participer à des ateliers de leadership et de collaborer avec des aîné(e)s bénévoles.

Cette année, des élèves de JPPS-Bialik, Talmud Torah / Herzliah et de École Maïmonide-Officielle ont réalisé un projet de portraits et de vernissage rendant hommage à des leaders juif(ve)s influent(e)s. 👏🏻

Dans l’Ouest-de-l’Île, en partenariat avec Kuper Academy Student Life, les participant(e)s ont également mené à bien le projet R.E.A.C.H., qui met en valeur les principes de Respect, d'Empathie, de Responsabilisation, de Courage et d'Humilité.

Being accessible and providing a warm welcoming environment has always been one of our top priorities. In addition to having ramps, elevators, and various support features for those that may require it, our staff and volunteers speak a variety of languages and always take into account each person's needs.

We have programs adapted to the needs of older adults ranging from social clubs, exercise programs, music and innovative programs to help stroke survivors, people with Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, mobility issues and more.

❤️‍🩹📗 March 1944. The German army marches into Budapest, in Hungary. Andrew is only eight years old — and his carefree childhood comes to an end. Today, he tells his story.

Join the Azrieli Holocaust Survivor Memoirs for the launch of Andrew's memoir titled "The Wind Carries Me/Le Vent me porte". The book marks the program's first bilingual memoir.

Co-hosted by the Montreal Holocaust Museum, the event will feature Andrew Fuchs through a short film, a Q&A, and a special performance alongside the Cummings World Choir. Andrew and the choir have been practicing for months for this special evening!
