Ferragosto per me significa casa. Anche da lontano, oggi il pensiero va all’Italia — alle tavolate lunghe, al mare, a quella pausa che ci ricorda da dove veniamo.

Pochi sanno che questa festa nasce più di duemila anni fa, con l’imperatore Augusto: un momento per fermarsi, ringraziare il lavoro fatto e stare insieme. Con il tempo si è unita alla festa dell’Assunzione, e oggi la portiamo nel cuore ovunque viviamo.

Qui in Canada la nostra comunità italiana tiene viva questa storia ogni giorno — nelle famiglie, nelle tradizioni, nell’orgoglio di essere italiani nel mondo. Buon Ferragosto a tutti voi 🇮🇹🇨🇦

Ferragosto, to me, means home. Even from afar, today my thoughts go back to Italy — to long tables shared with family, to the sea, to that pause that reminds us where we come from.

Not many know this celebration goes back over two thousand years, to Emperor Augustus: a time to rest, to give thanks for the work done, and to be together. Over time it merged with the Feast of the Assumption, and today we carry it in our hearts wherever we live.

Here in Canada, our Italian community keeps this story alive every day — in our families, our traditions, and the pride of being Italian around the world. Happy Ferragosto to all of you 🇮🇹🇨🇦
