Thanks to everyone who shared our posts and to the 53 of you who donated — we met our goal! $2500 in donations will be matched by a CCBF member, for Clayton Thomas-Muller & his efforts educating on Bill C-39 and fighting for Indigenous sovereignty and the environment.

Clayton has announced the funds will be used for the costs associated with the media production of the Arctic Crossroads Tour, an Indigenous led listening and public education tour in Northern Manitoba that just wrapped up. It discussed what’s at stake as climate change, resource development, critical minerals, fossil fuel infrastructure, shipping and other pressures reshape the North, and brought communities together to strengthen resistance.

Thank you for doing your part in the collective fight back. Onwards and upwards.

Our allies have called for a National Week of Action to Stop Bill C-39. In support, we organized a webinar with people who have intimate knowledge of the bill and critically evaluated its implications.

We heard from an environmental lawyer, a labour union leader and an Indigenous climate organizer on why Bill C-39 must be stopped.

It is our foremost responsibility to expose Prime Minister Mark Carney’s ecocidal and anti-worker agenda. As such, our next political education seminar will cover Carney’s Bill-C39, why it must be defeated and call for the struggle to defeat the bill to be escalated.

Join us on Wednesday October 28 at 6:30pm ET / 3:30pm PT for this important discussion and join the collective effort to KILL THE BILL!

Aligning with the National Week of Action to Stop Bill C-39 and the call from our allies to stand together to kill the bill, this webinar will give an overview of what is included in this giant 243-page bill. Titled the ‘Building Canada Strong Act’, the legislation brazenly prioritizes the interests of corporate investors, in the process subordinating workers, Indigenous nations and the environment.

Speakers:

Kerrie Blaise from Legal Advocates for Nature's Defence**. Kerrie is an environmental lawyer whose practice centres on environmental rights and justice. She is one of only a handful of public interest environmental lawyers who serve Indigenous communities, non-profits and community leaders on issues of urgent matters related to climate, indigenous rights and environmental protection.

Julius Arscott is President of OPSEU Local 532 and former Executive Board member of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. He is a longtime socialist and environmentalist, and active in the anti-war and Palestine solidarity movements.

This webinar will give an overview of Canada’s role and participation in the US-led plunder of the Philippines and its war of suppression on the Filipino people. The speakers will examine Canada’s growing military, economic and trade relationships with the Philippines, its connections to the US-led Pax Silica project to secure global supply chains for artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and critical minerals, and why it’s important for people in the imperial core to support the struggle and people’s resistance in the Philippines.

Solidarity with the protestors in Bangkok, Thailand as they protest against the IMF-World Bank annual meeting from October 12-18. Capitalism Can’t Be Fixed agrees with their analysis of the institutions favouring the global rich and being a tool of financial colonialism. Long live international solidarity.

Are you a youth (under 30), support CCBF and want to get involved?

Capitalism Can’t Be Fixed has been invited as an observer to attend this virtual conference on October 25th at 10am ET/7am PT titled “We Won’t Fight Their Wars” by 7 Revolutionary Youth Organizations of 7 countries.

This mobilization comes ahead of the mass international youth and student strike called for November 20th.

As an organization, we firmly stand in solidarity with the youth resisting conscription and the attack on their education.

Please send us a message indicating your interest and we will go from there. There will be an opportunity to share your report back with the wider CCBF community on October 28th webinar.
