53 lives changed. 🐾 Thanks to incredible community support, the Mississauga Animal Services' Homeward Bound adoption event was life-changing for dozes of furry friends. The event helped ease capacity pressures at the shelter and gave dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and even a python a fresh start.

Some of the shelter's longest-term residents were among those adopted, including Kaito, a 10-year-old Husky and Akita mix who had been waiting since 2023 for a family.

Thank you to everyone who adopted, fostered, donated or helped spread the word. Stay tuned for future adoption events at the shelter!

Dog waste is still causing quite a stink in Mississauga.

Dog waste left behind can contaminate soil, recycling bins, and public spaces, while also increasing cleanup costs across parks, trails, sports fields, and sidewalks.

Please do not leave dog waste or bags on the ground or in recycling bins. Contaminated recycling is sent to landfill along with valuable materials. If a bin is full, use another or take it home and report overflowing bins to 311.

Dog waste belongs in garbage bins or designated dog waste stations, which help manage waste more safely and reduce environmental impact.

A simple habit like carrying bags and disposing of waste properly makes a big difference for our community.

Each year, from May 1 to September 30, parking fines can be $100 or more for parking and stopping violations in the Lakefront Increased Penalty Zone. This zone includes local roads, City parks and municipal parking lots south of Lakeshore Road.

To avoid a fine, park in permitted areas only within parks and neighbourhoods.
