On May 29th, students and staff had an opportunity to visit Mission Raceway - we had over 300 students taking in STEM learning as they interacted with booths and presentations from numerous fields. Super thankful that the rain stopped, so students got to see various racers showing their skills. Mission Raceway continues to work with our district to collaborate on making lessons that showcase STEM for students.

Thank you, Mission Raceway, for hosting Hatzic Middle, Heritage Middle, Mission Secondary, and Riverside. Also, thank you to trustees Shelley Carter, Trustee Randy Cairns, Superintendent Angus Wilson and Vice Principal Bobby Chilaka for joining us.

May is Asian Heritage Month - a time to celebrate, learn and reflect.

Across BC, Asian cultures, histories, and contributions are woven into the fabric of our communities and our province.

Let’s continue learning from one another and building on the respect, understanding, and inclusion that make BC thrive.

This week our teachers participating in inquiry came together for a celebration of learning. It was amazing to see the questions posed and ideas tried to see the findings on how certain ideas impact student learning.  Ideas ranged from accessible seating, impacts of flameless cooking on students, making learning intentions meaningful to students, Flex Time within a class or school, and multiple literacy initiatives to just name a couple of ideas.
