As we recognize National Indigenous History Month, we're encouraged to see institutions like Mount Allison University creating opportunities for learning and dialogue through initiatives such as their Indigenous Speakers Series.

We are especially proud that members of the MTI family have contributed to these conversations, including MTI's Tracy Anne Cloud, alongside representatives and Knowledge Holders from our Mi'gmaq communities, sharing their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on culture, treaties, and identity.

Wela'lin to everyone helping create spaces for learning, understanding, and reconciliation during National Indigenous History Month and throughout the year. 🧡

Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn Incorporated (MTI) would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us in commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the 1725/26 Peace and Friendship Treaties.

To the many schools that brought students to take part in this historic event, wela’lioq. Seeing youth engage with this important part of our shared history gives us hope for the future and helps ensure these teachings continue for generations to come.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the government officials who attended and recognized this significant milestone. As we reflect on 300 years of the Peace and Friendship Treaties, we look forward to continuing to move forward together in the spirit of peace, friendship, respect, and mutual understanding.

To our community members, thank you for showing up, sharing in this moment, and helping make the day so meaningful.

A special thank you to the Mi’gmaq Grand Council, our firekeepers, dancers, singers, and drummers, whose presence, knowledge, and cultural leadership grounded this gathering in Mi’gmaq tradition and spirit.

We are also deeply grateful to keynote speaker Dr. Sherry Pictou for sharing her insights and reflections, and to Morgan Toney for a powerful and moving performance that brought people together through music and storytelling.

Wela’lioq to the dedicated staff of MTI, MPI, and MJI, whose hard work behind the scenes helped make this event possible, and to Metepenagiag Heritage Park for providing such a beautiful setting to host this historic gathering.

A very special thank you as well to Double Curve Media for their tremendous support in helping bring this event to fruition. Without you this event would not have been possible.

As we honour the past and celebrate the enduring relationships embodied in the Peace and Friendship Treaties, here's to the next 300 years of peace, friendship, and angugamge'wel - adding to our relations.

Wela’lioq to all who helped make this commemorative event such a success!
