Just wanted to provide update to costs for the hall rental. Last increase was in 2023 and we all know costs for hydro and heating oil and so much more have increased since then. Booking your event here helps maintain this historic site for all to enjoy and know the heritage of this community. Hope to see you in 2026! Thanks for your support.

This is to provide an update on hall rental rates for the hall effective January 18, 2026. This increase is due to increase of costs and specifically for Hydro related costs in past months vans the additional increase shortly.

Half day rental will be $125.00
Full day rental will be $250.00
Rental amounts woukd newdcto be paid three weeks In advance to secure your date

We also charge a damage deposit the day of the rental which would cover cleaning or damage. If the hall is cleaned and no damage, then that amount would be refunded following the event.

Just take note we no longer accept the large bouncy castles as they are too large for the hall - they have ruined lights on ceiling and the ceiling.

Thanks for your continued support to help keep this Heritage Building viable for community useage. It is the last remaining Seamen’s Hospital in Canada, built in 1830.

Seamen’s Hospital is seeking individuals who would be interested in participating on our Board of directors. We currently have two openings due to relocation of our current members. If you are interested in being part of the folks to help govern and maintain this Heritage Building we would be happy to meet with you and go over what our expectations are and how much time would be involved. Seamens Hospital will no longer have bouncy castles inside the venue effective June 01, 2025. The main reason is that we have become aware that the bouncy castles we allowed in the past where 8 feet maximum, and not overly heavy.

Now the ones that one can be rented out are over 9-10 feet. Recently one was inflated when I was there and the top of the castle was taller than our very tall ceilings and very heavy. And when children are bouncing, more scraping on ceiling and fixtures occur.

The damage to ceilings, lights and floor would be too costly to fix, thus it has been decided that indoor castles will no longer be booked. We would ask that all renters do advise us if this is your intention, in order to avoid issues.

All should participate in this walk, history will be shared

Join Alexander Rankin this weekend (July 27-28) on a Walk Through Lower (Douglas)Town - 2 pm, starting at the Seamen’s Hospital Miramichi at 12 Vye Street. Join us for a walk through the centuries, complete with stories from the Miramichi Fire, the Fighting Election, and much more. Tickets ($15) available prior to the tour.

As of September 01,2024 we will need to increase our rental rates.

As we know hydro rates have increased as of April01, 2024 by 15%. Other costs have also increased. We have tried to keep our previous rates for the summer, but we cannot continue.

The new rates will be as follows :

Half day 110.00 - up to ( 5 hours)
Full day 220.00 5 plus hours plus in the same day
