Just a heads-up that trappers are coming to Millertown this weekend to deal with the busy beavers at the water pond. 🎉
They've built a new lodge in the big pond, so Forestry brought in extra help to sort it out.

Don't let the cute picture fool you. They are being a nuisance 😄

🌲 NATIONAL WILDERNESS DAY — SEPTEMBER 3 🌲

There may be no better place to celebrate National Wilderness Day than right here in Millertown, the Wildlife Capital of Newfoundland & Labrador. 🫎🦅🌲

We are surrounded by something pretty special.

From the forests and waters of Beothuk Lake to the moose, black bears, eagles, pine marten and countless other species that call this area home, wilderness isn’t something we have to travel to find, it’s right outside our doors.

And now, with approximately 1,600 hectares near Beothuk Lake protected by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, an important piece of the landscape surrounding Millertown will remain wild for generations to come.

Our forests tell stories. Our waters carry history. This land was important to the Beothuk long before Millertown existed, and today it continues to support an incredible diversity of wildlife.

On National Wilderness Day, we’re reminded just how fortunate we are to live where we do and how important it is to look after it.
