Our board introductions continue with a big spotlight on our new Vice Chair, Chelsey Bourassa, who is officially joining the call for your favorite recipes for our upcoming Community Cookbook Fundraiser! We have big dreams of bringing fantastic new programs to town and giving our facility a fresh glow-up, and your kitchen secrets are the key to making it happen. 🍳📖

Chelsey grew up nearby in Weyburn, but life eventually brought her and her little family to Milestone, and they are absolutely loving the small-town life! She jumped right into the library action when she joined the board in January 2026 and quickly stepped into the role of Vice Chair in March. As a lifelong book lover, Chelsey has a longstanding obsession with historical fiction, but she also loves diving headfirst into magical fantasy worlds and can never, ever pass up a good love story! She is constantly amazed by what this vibrant little branch has managed to do for the community so far, and she is incredibly excited to help shape all the amazing things yet to come.

We are continuing our library board introductions with a huge shoutout to Megan Mydynski, and yes, she’s also here to remind you that we need your amazing recipes for our upcoming Community Cookbook Fundraiser! Every single recipe submitted helps us bring fantastic new programs to town and give our library a much-needed facility glow-up. 🍳📚

For Megan, Milestone has proudly been home for the last five years, where she channels her passion for supporting local kids and families as an Early Childhood Educator at the Milestone Early Learning Centre and an Educational Assistant at the school. Alongside her husband, Megan is raising two young children who are already learning to value the magic of books, literacy, and lifelong learning. In fact, the library is easily one of her absolute favorite places in town. Whether she's using it as a peaceful sanctuary to "escape" her children for the night, grabbing the latest book club pick, or watching her kids thrive there. Her children absolutely adore the space too; her daughter loves to play, her son loves picking out new books, and After School Club is his ultimate favorite time to hang out with the big kids and dive into all the fun activities!

When Megan actually gets a moment of free time, you can usually find her devouring the next best romance or thriller novel, unashamedly binge-watching the newest trashy reality show or rom-com, getting crafty with coloring, snapping photos, going on family bike rides, or just soaking up quality time with her crew. As a proud library board member, Megan is so excited to help support a welcoming, vibrant space where community members of all ages can learn, connect, and grow.

Meet our Board Secretary Ariel Young. She is cooking up some BIG plans behind the scenes at the library; from brewing up fantastic new programs to giving our facility a much-needed glow-up! To make this magic happen, we need your help filling our upcoming Community Cookbook!
As a dedicated mom of three, she’s watched her kiddos learn, grow, and occasionally hide in the library stacks since they were tiny. When she isn’t buried in her favorite dystopian, post-apocalyptic, or spine-tingling thriller novels, you can find her traveling, tackling a new skill, or enthusiastically encouraging her love of literature and thrill-seeking hobbies onto her kiddos. Because she loves a good adventure, especially the edible kind, she has issued the ultimate recipe challenge for our fundraiser:
"If you have any exotic, unusual, or downright odd recipes, I want to see them!" Happy Monday & happy to introduce our board chair Ireland Cardiff!
Ireland was born and raised right here in Milestone and has a deep, lifelong connection to our library. As a kid, she was a daily fixture at the computers and a dedicated participant in the summer reading program. Now, as a mom of two, she feels incredibly blessed to have year-round literacy opportunities for her own family and she is honored to help keep these vital programs thriving for the next generation.

For Ireland, the library has been a gift that has brought endless laughs, unforgettable events, and amazing friends into her life. When she isn't leading the board, you can find Ireland out on the golf course, tending to her garden, or researching new ways to live a cleaner, healthier lifestyle. Literacy-wise, she is a huge fan of biographies and non-fiction, with a specific obsession for true crime and history.

Ireland's Cookbook Challenge:
As the board collects submissions for our upcoming community cookbook, Ireland has a special request! Since she is always looking for new ways to fuel a healthy lifestyle, she wants you to send her your most delicious, wholesome, and clean-eating recipes. Got a healthy dish that tastes incredible? Say hello to Jana Whalen!
Five years ago, Jana and her husband moved to town and immediately fell in love with the community. While she is the new face on our Library Board, she’s been a familiar helping hand all around town for years and is thrilled to step into this new role.

As a local teacher, Jana has a profound love for literacy and a passion for helping young minds grow. When she’s off the clock, she’s usually soaking up the outdoors, diving into a creative DIY project, or reading a contemporary romance novel on her Kindle.

Above all, Jana is a proud toddler mom. She is already looking forward to raising her son surrounded by the magic of books, reading, and all the wonderful youth programs our library provides.

Meet Sarah Armstrong, Our Treasurer & Trustee!
Sarah has been a vital member of the Library Board since 2023. She is deeply passionate about supporting the library and the many programs that bring people together to strengthen our community. When she’s not volunteering her time with one of her various community boards, Sarah can be found at Harvard Western Insurance, where she works during the day. She is also the proud mom of two young daughters who keep life busy, fun, and full of adventure!

Sarah is an absolute bookworm, crushing multiple novels every month. While she reads a bit of everything, her favorite genres are romance and memoirs.

Sarah is one of our designated board members ready to collect your favorite dishes for our upcoming community cookbook! If you have a recipe to share but don't want to type it out yourself, Sarah is happy to receive your handwritten recipe cards and type them up for you. Pleased to introduce another lovely board member: Michelle Vilagos!
Michelle moved to Milestone in the fall of 2021 and quickly became an active part of the community, working locally at the Harvard Western Insurance office. As a busy mom to a two-year-old boy, Michelle admittedly isn't a traditional bookworm but she joined the library board with a distinct purpose: to help create fantastic, family-friendly, and community-minded programming!

In her free time, Michelle loves hosting friends and family, gardening, and unwinding with a good Netflix documentary or true-crime story. She is also a passionate home cook and an absolutely incredible baker (especially when it comes to the art of sourdough!).
