Where were you when MidlandToday.ca interviewed you about your official candidacy for Mayor of Midland, Ontario? Thanks to the laptop lifestyle (or in this case smart phone lifestyle) I was sitting on this picnic table at in beautiful Awenda Provincial Park, after a wee stroll along the boardwalk!

Without a doubt, I believe that is the greatest existential challenge of our lifetimes. The reality is unfortunately, that precariously housed human beings are likely going to find prioritization of the collective efforts required to mitigate challenging and that affects us all where we live, work, volunteer and play; wherever we live in .

Ute Schmid-Jones (that's me) has been officially declared a Mayoral Candidate for the Municipality of Midland Ontario ( a municipal community in the two-tiered municipality of Simcoe County ). I am looking forward to transferring the many skills I've developed living, working and volunteering as a in these Simcoe County municipalities:

Midland (26 + years)
Barrie, (2 years)
Oro-Medonte (12 years)
Midhurst (1 year)

and these Canadian municipalities:

Toronto (5 years)
Hamilton (4 years)
Yellowknife (1 year)

As a woman, I identify with a gender of our population that has been largely left out of holding positions of power in our political spectrum. Midland has never had a woman mayor and Canada has never elected a woman Prime Minister. I look forward to participating in this exciting electoral process and exercise in Canada's democracy.
