Last week, members of our Simcoe Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV) participated in hands-on training focused on flood prevention and response.
Volunteers gained practical experience with flood response equipment, including a sandbag filling machine and Aqua-Barriers, learning how these tools can help protect homes, businesses, and communities during flooding events.
A big thank you to our SERV volunteers for their enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to continually train and learn. We would also like to thank the City of Orillia for their support in helping make this training possible.

A new tool is taking flight for emergency preparedness in Simcoe County!

Thanks to a $10,000 Build Strong Grant from TC Energy, the County of Simcoe Emergency Management Department will be adding a drone to support emergency response and planning activities.

The drone will provide aerial imagery and data that can help assess hazards, evaluate disaster impacts, improve situational awareness during emergencies, and support recovery efforts. It will also be available to assist with a variety of County operational projects.

This investment strengthens our ability to make informed decisions and support our communities when it matters most.
