- We as Indigenous people around the world have diverse cultural practices and traditions associated with the winter solstice.
- Celebrating the winter solstice allows diverse indigenous communities to reclaim their ancestral knowledge and traditions that were suppressed during colonization.
- It is a way of resisting cultural assimilation and asserting indigenous autonomy.
- Winter solstice celebrations can be a means of healing and reconciliation for indigenous communities who have experienced historical trauma and oppression.
- Indigenous cultures often have a deep connection with the natural world, and celebrating the winter solstice emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship.
