After eight years of dedicated service to Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dwayne Zarichny has announced his retirement, effective August 31, 2027.
Since joining MHCBE in 2019, Dr. Zarichny has provided steady leadership through significant growth and change, with a deep commitment to students and staff while keeping faith at the heart of our work.
“It has been an incredible privilege to serve the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education and to work alongside such dedicated trustees, staff, students, families and community partners. Catholic education has been at the heart of my professional life, and I am deeply grateful for the relationships, experiences and opportunities that have shaped my time with the division," Dr. Zarichny shares.
With more than 33 years in education, we are grateful to have benefited from Dr. Zarichny’s wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership. His time at MHCBE has included significant milestones for Catholic education in our community, including the addition of specialty programming, the growth of enrollment to 3000 students as well as the opening of Holy Trinity Academy in Fall of 2027.
We look forward to celebrating Dr. Zarichny and his contributions throughout his final year with MHCBE. 💙
