Have you heard of Ontario’s Slow Down, Move Over Law? Here’s what you should know:

When approaching an emergency vehicle with flashing red or red and blue lights, or a tow truck with flashing amber lights stopped on the side of the road, drivers are required by law to:

• slow down and proceed with caution
• if the road has two or more lanes and it’s safe to do so, move into the other lane to provide space. These measures help protect emergency response personnel.

Let’s all do our part to keep our first responders safe on our roads and highways!

Slow down, move over – it’s the law!

All drivers are required to reduce speed, proceed with caution, and, if safe, change lanes to make way for emergency vehicles, including enforcement vehicles.

Please help keep our safe.

Following several accidents over the past week, Lakeshore Fire is reminding residents to move over for emergency vehicles, slow down, and drive according to road conditions. 🚨🚒

Move to the right and stop when you see emergency vehicles with lights flashing behind you. Not only is it the law, it also helps first responders get to emergencies as quickly as possible.

When approaching an accident scene slow down and move to the furthest available lane when passing emergency vehicles. Driving too fast near accident scenes is extremely dangerous, especially in poor road conditions, and puts first responders, drivers, and pedestrians at risk.
