We're always training for the real thing!!!

Today's training focused on vertical ventilation operations and safe chainsaw use on pitched roofs. Our firefighters practiced coordinated roof ventilation techniques, ladder placement, communication, and working safely under realistic fireground conditions.

Roof ventilation is a critical skill that helps release heat, smoke, and toxic gases during a structure fire, improving conditions for both firefighters and occupants inside. Training like this ensures our crews stay prepared, confident, and ready to respond when seconds matter most.

Great teamwork and dedication from everyone involved!

Happy Paramedic Week from your friends at the Markstay-Warren Fire Department! 🚑🚒

Thanks for always showing up. We're so happy to work alongside you.

We appreciate your hard work, dedication, and your superhuman ability to survive on no sleep and gas station coffee.

The community is lucky to have you, even if you steal all the best parking spots at our calls.

Stay safe, and thanks for everything you do!

International Firefighters’ Day – May 4, 2026

Today we honor the firefighters who respond without hesitation—regardless of the time, the conditions, or the danger.

Whether in training or on the front lines, during calm moments or high-pressure calls, this work requires unwavering dedication, personal sacrifice, and absolute trust in one another.

Make sure you thank them for all they do - because they do A LOT that most of us, thankfully, never see. 💕

Happy Telecommunications Week to all the incredible dispatchers out there!

You are the unseen heroes behind every call for help. Your coordination, precision, and commitment make a life-saving difference for both our crews and the people we serve. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

This week, and every week, we recognize and appreciate the thin gold line and all that it represents. 💛🔥

❄️ A Huge Thank You to Our Community Heroes! ❄️

During this recent storm, our municipality and all front-line workers have gone above and beyond to keep everyone safe. From our dedicated firefighters, EMS crews, and police officers, to hydro workers, plow truck drivers, and municipal staff, your tireless efforts are truly appreciated. 🙏

As we continue to navigate these winter conditions, please remember to:

Stay safe and limit travel if possible.

Check your furnace vents and heating systems regularly to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

Keep pathways clear for emergency vehicles and plows.

Call 911 only in an emergency.

Your safety is our priority, and together we can get through any storm! 💙

We'll take it from here.

We know we look good in the gear, but you don’t have to pull the alarm just to see us! 😉

While we love a good “spark,” we’d much rather meet you at a community event than an emergency. Just know that your local fire department is constantly thinking of you and your safety—not just today, but every day.

Our Valentine's gift to you? A quick fire safety joke:
Why did the firefighter get dumped on Valentine’s Day?
Because he kept ghosting her... but only to go put out a real flame! 🔥

Stay safe, stay warm, and keep those smoke detector batteries fresh. We’re always here if you need us ❤️
