Today, Grey Highlands Fire & Emergency Services joins communities across Ontario in recognizing the Provincial Day of Service.

In remembrance and commemoration of those affected by the events of September 11, 2001, the flags at Station 1 in Flesherton and Station 2 in Markdale are lowered to half-mast.

As we mark this day, we remember those who lost their lives, honour the bravery and dedication of first responders and service members, and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience shown in the face of tragedy.

To improve service delivery, Grey Bruce Public Health is changing the water sample pick-up schedule for Grey County.

Starting Thursday, September 3, 2026, the courier will now pick up samples on Thursdays.

Reminder:

The Town Hall Forum scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, in Maxwell has been cancelled.

Council's decision was based on the proximity of the Municipal Election and the need to maintain neutrality. Holding a Town Hall during the campaign period could raise concerns under the Municipality's Use of Corporate Resources Policy and create a perceived unfair advantage for some candidates.

As local farmers work to bring in their crops, residents and visitors may notice more tractors, combines, and other agricultural equipment on municipal roads.

Please slow down, be patient, and give farm vehicles plenty of space. These vehicles often travel at slower speeds and may make wide turns.

Thank you for helping keep our roads safe and supporting our local farming community during this busy harvest season.

🚴‍♀️ 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞! 🚴‍♂️

This Saturday, September 12, the Grey Highlands Gran Fondo will bring more than 500 cyclists to our roads between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

As riders travel throughout the municipality, please remember to slow down, stay alert, and give cyclists plenty of space. A little extra patience goes a long way in keeping everyone safe.

Thank you for helping us showcase the best of Grey Highlands and for doing your part to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for participants and residents alike.

Bring the Whole Family to the Gran Fondo!

This year’s Grey Highlands Gran Fondo includes a new 2K Family Ride, sponsored by Flowerpot Press, created especially for our youngest cyclists and their families.

This fun, non-competitive ride gives children a chance to build confidence on their bikes, enjoy an active day outdoors, and experience the excitement of being part of the Gran Fondo alongside their family and community.

Every child registered for the Family Ride will receive a Gran Fondo hat and a swag bag of books donated by Flowerpot Press.

Young riders are also encouraged to fundraise in support of local healthcare. The top two youth fundraisers will each receive a prize package from Little Ed’s Ski & Bike Shop, including a custom Little Ed’s cycling jersey, helmet, and bike tune-up.

We are grateful to Flowerpot Press, NFP, Fawcett Funeral Homes, and Little Ed’s Ski & Bike Shop for helping us create a welcoming and memorable experience for young riders and their families.
