Amazing news!

STANISLAV HAS BEEN FOUND !!

After several long days of searching, we are incredibly relieved to share that Stanislav has been found alive and is safe.

Stanislav walked himself out and was located on the Indian Arm FSR.

We know so many people across Squamish, the Sea to Sky, and beyond have been following his story, sharing our posts, sending messages, and hoping alongside his family.

Today, we get to share the news we’ve all been waiting for.

A heartfelt thank you to every SAR team, first responder, volunteers and everyone else who played a part in the search — and to everyone who shared, supported, and kept hope.

We are so thankful

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE HABRICH SEARCH

We are aware that requests for members of the public to head to the Habrich Ridge area tomorrow to assist with the search have been widely shared.

We understand and deeply appreciate the desire to help bring Stas home. However, please do not independently enter the Habrich search area tomorrow.

This remains an active SAR operation and we are following up on all leads. We have multiple professional teams working in coordinated search areas by ground and by air. Uncoordinated members of the public entering the area can create additional safety risks, interfere with established search operations, and potentially divert resources away from the search.

As per our update yesterday, we have not put out a formal request for a public search party. If additional assistance is required, it will be coordinated through the appropriate SAR channels.

Thank you for your understanding

MISSING HIKER — SQUAMISH

Squamish Search and Rescue and Squamish RCMP are searching for 43-year-old Stanislav Volo, who was last seen at the summit of the Sea to Sky Gondola at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30.

Other SAR teams from the surrounding areas are joining Squamish to help with search efforts.

Stanislav was planning to hike from the gondola summit toward the Habrich climbers’ access trail, traverse the ridge, and return to the gondola summit via Al’s Habrich Trail.

He was last seen wearing:

- Black T-shirt

- Shorts

- Small backpack

Were you hiking or climbing in this area on Sunday?

Searchers are asking anyone who was on the Habrich trails, ridge, or surrounding area to think back to whether they may have seen Stanislav. Even a brief sighting could help establish his direction of travel and timeline.

If you have any information or believe you may have seen him, please contact Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100.

Please share, particularly with anyone who was hiking or climbing in the Sea to Sky Gondola/Habrich area on Sunday.

Yesterday around 4:00 p.m. Ridge Meadows search and rescue was tasked out for an injured climber, who had fallen and had a possible broken wrist and fractured leg, between Edge Mountain and Golden Ears.

Talon Helicopters was called and two members (hoist team) from Coquitlam SAR joined to assist us.

As they were flying over our subject was spotted. Decision was made to drop the two members off to subject and assess injuries. Upon assessment it was then decided that one of our members was flown up with vacuum splints to assist.
Subject was then flown down to West Canyon Command and handed over to BC ambulance. Because of the location all members and subject ( with the help of members) were able to hover entry and no hoist necessary.

This individual was well prepared however accidents can still happen but we would still like to remind everyone traveling in the backcountry to always take your Essentials, trip plan, and give yourself plenty of extra time.

Your destination is not the summit. It is arriving home safely.

Special thank you to Talon Helicopters and Coquitlam Search and Rescue for your continued partnership and support.

As always you can check out BC AdventureSmart website for informative videos on outdoor safety and other tips for recreating in the outdoors.

Operation Little Black Dress for Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue was held yesterday on Bear Mountain in Mission.
❤️👗❤️
This is the 9th year that one of our members has held this fundraiser. She actually started hosting this a few years before she was even a member.
It has been held on mountain tops and lake shores but yesterday was more about the company than hiking a huge hike. We only did around 5 km on Bear Mountain in Mission with our destination for photographs being Moon Rock. What a fun spot for photos.

The funds raised at events like this go towards team gear, jackets etc.🥾⛑️🎒🧭
So if you feel like donating(any small amount always helps), here is the link 🔗

When donating you will find that under the 'funds' tab there is a special tab just for Operation Little Black Dress !!
Helps us keep track😃

Ridge Meadows search and rescue has had a busy week with a variety of calls.

Last night (Tuesday August 4th) the team was tasked out at approximately 23:43 for three missing hikers, one with a possible ankle injury, on the Golden Ears Summit Trail in Golden Ears Provincial Park.

Two ground teams were deployed. One went up the West Canyon Trail and the other team up East Canyon. Both heading towards Alder Flats. A third team was also dropped off just below the shelter near Golden Ears summit.
With two teams hiking up and one team hiking down the mountain the group of three were found quite swiftly.

This was our first task where we could take advantage of being dropped off and picked off (hover exit/entry) at a remote location during night operations. A game changer.

Special thank you to Talon Helicopters for your continued partnership.

Task completed around 06:00hrs this morning.

We would like to remind people heading out into the backcountry to always pack your Essentials and everything else you may need for a safe and comfortable adventure and always leave a trip plan with a family member or friend.
