Yesterday morning we held a beautiful memorial service for one of our own, Tara Dewache. Taken from us too early, Tara was a beloved member of our community and a beautiful and kind spirit. In commemoration of her passing, we held a ceremony yesterday with family members, students, and staff. We planted a lilac tree which we hope will grow as strong and proud as Tara was. We added to***co and said our goodbyes and committed to live well in honour of her. It is with the family's permission that we post this message in memoriam. With much love and respect, The staff and students of Maniwaki Continuing Education Centre.

Sheldon here. I would like to recognize the Maniwaki Continuing Education Centre staff and students in receiving the Local and Regional awards from 1600+ projects in the Osentreprende Challenge. The project, β€œThe Giving Kitchen-Students Feeding Community,” provided optional hot lunches to students, with optional portions to take home to family and/or the greater community. Other partnerships in food security such as CentreAide and neighbourhood organizations were able to support us in reaching those in need. MCEC was also recognized by the OS Challenge judges for the importance of the project and its mandate for the Maniwaki region. We await the Provincial contest results on June 10, until then, there is more work to be done! Dedication and passion for those in need is the driving force behind the great work the Centre continues to perform to meet the needs of our greater community. Congratulations to staff, students and the Maniwaki region for this wonderful recognition. Sheldon Macgillivray (Centre Director, MCEC)
