Sewer Pump Out After Rainfall:
Village staff have spoken to a few different vac truck operators regarding issues pumping out after the 3 ½ inches of rain received over the last four days. Here is what they would like the public to understand:
When significant rainfall is received in short periods of time, the ground becomes so saturated that the ground water is flowing and filling any space it can find, which may include in through small cracks or open gaps in your septic tank. When multiple tanks experience the same issue, it creates more water pumping out creating back pressure in the Village main lines. Residents may find times during the day or night when there is less public demand, so no showers, washers, dishwashers running, such as middle of the night, mid morning or mid afternoon when more residents are away from the community for work. You may want to unplug your septic pump during high demand times and try plugging it in during the times with less demand to see if you can get some movement. If you have a sump hole from weeping tile in your basement that is plumbed into your septic tank, redirect that ground water out a window into your ditch line.
Vac Truck Operators are very busy during this time but ask the public to be patient. The water will soak in and recede over the next few days and sewer systems will return to normal operations. If you require a vac truck operator for emergency reasons, please be advised that the road leading to the Village lagoon is closed so they will be required to find another location to offload their tank.
If you have any questions or need a little help understanding your system, please contact the Village office at 306-634-9352 or email [email protected]
Thank you!
