Today the Town of Lunenburg was proud to host the 101st Fishers' Memorial Service. For over a century, this service has been dedicated to the memory of those who have gone down to the sea in ships and who have never returned. And in tribute to those who continue to occupy their business in great waters.

The Fishers’ Memorial Service is at the heart of who we are in Lunenburg. It is a time for us to honour the lives lost at sea, to stand with their families, and to recognize the generations of fishers whose courage and sacrifice built this community. As we move into the second century of this service, this tradition reminds us that while the sea sustains us, it also demands respect, remembrance, and gratitude.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to all of those that worked to put today’s service together. Thank you to our local clergy – Joe Amero, Rev. Daniel MacDonald, Pastor Anette Smith, Rev. Dr. Dawna Wall and Rev. Ian Wissler, the Bridgewater Fire Department Band, our Town Crier, Hilda Russell, the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, Jessica Fancy, Susan Corkum-Greek, Mary Knickle, Christina Patterson, Jeff Wagner, the Town of Lunenburg's Town Council and Public Works team.
